Program Overview
The Carquinez Regional Environmental Education Center (CREEC) is launching a major public initiative called the Carquinez Pollinator Pathway, a multi‑organization effort designed to restore habitat, support native pollinators, and engage the community in hands‑on ecological stewardship. CREEC will serve as the lead organization, coordinating partners, volunteers, and project implementation across the Carquinez region.
The Pollinator Pathway will consist of different scales of habitat‑restoration projects, Micro to Large, each designed to increase ecological connectivity and create thriving habitat corridors for bees, butterflies, moths, birds, and other pollinators.
CREEC will partner with individual homeowners to create small pollinator gardens in residential yards. These micro‑sites will help stitch together habitat across neighborhoods, creating stepping‑stone corridors for pollinators.
Homeowner commitments:
Sign a simple agreement stating they will maintain the plants long‑term
Provide at least 3 volunteers for the planting day (family, friends, neighbors)
CREEC will provide:
15–20 pollinator plants selected for local ecological value
On‑site planting assistance
A commemorative Pollinator Pathway sign recognizing their garden as part of the regional network
These small gardens will serve as visible, community‑driven examples of how individuals can contribute to ecological restoration.
